Week Two notes and musings
Second week entry and a lot has occurred over this past week. My Political piece is completed and once I run the design by my lecturer Paul I will fine tune minor details for the eventual completed product. I have started on my Self Portrait as a robot but its still in its infancy stage and more planning is required.
Second week tutorial was fascinating was in involved using gradient maps to colourise a desaturated image. It was very fun but objects to my own personal style of using Alpha Channels and levels/curves of a 4:0:0 image.
Political Poster: AIDS awareness in Africa
Well I finished my first of my 3 visual tasks due for Week 6 in the political poster. I chose to do my subject on the current issue of AIDS affliction in Africa as it is very non-confrontational of an issue and the design aspect of it is easier to conceive of.
The piece turned out to be a hypothetical promotional piece to raise awareness of the AIDS epidemic in Africa and well as encouraging donation. The image itself is somewhat symmetrical with a pleasing blend of colours. Usage of stock images was welcomed with the exception of the AIDS symbol which I designed myself which was a personal choice.

Week Two Exercise: Gradient Map
Exercise this week was colourisation of desaturated images by primarily using adjustment layers and gradient maps. This method is not my preferred method as it opposes my usage of Alpha Channels and various of other adjustments, however the final result was still aesthetically pleasing.

Simple colourisation of a cabbage leaf.

More advanced colourisation with multiple layers and channels.

Further complexity in colouring with gradient maps.
